Rays passion for Slacklining stemmed from an enthusiasm for flow arts and fire spinning. In 2009 he was introduced to his first slackline in a friends backyard in Atlanta Georgia, and once he stepped foot on that 1 inch webbing, he was hooked. He became inspired to amalgamate the flow art of poi with the balance of slackline, and eventually to incorporate fire.
Ray graduated with a Computer Science major but not before studying abroad in Barcelona, Spain and again in Metz, France. With the ease of the European train network coupled with the cultural immersion through Couchsurfing, he severely caught the travel bug, triggering an ever growing curiosity for the worlds natural beauties and the many walks of life that populate it. After meeting Logan Scholfield, they conceived the idea of Balance Odyssey, to tour the world with slacklines and gift the love of the sport and the incredible experience of balance.
You can also find Ray pursuing Highline (Slacklining at Height) projects in remote corners of the world. “When i’m in balance with the line and my body is tuned, I enter a blissful flow state that allows me to hone every muscle and nerve in my body to perform as I want it to. The movements and relaxation of my mind eases my tension and brings me happiness. I wouldn’t trade it for anything”
