Gwa

Gwa

Slackline workshop number one of ten. Yesterday in the fishing village of Gwa, on the western coast, we put together an impromptu introduction at the town school. None of the kids had ever seen a slackline. We could barely understand a word each other said. After the two-hour session the school had its own rig, and the students had the skills to rig it, begin exploring the ways to balance on it, and take it down.

A massive success, and completely off the cuff. A solo attempt. Corey was on a different timeframe. I set up in front of what turned out to be a school. A huge crowd of girls watching as I rigged, which took a while. I was rusty, and especially rusty at primitive rigging.

Hein Min Zaw translated, and he was an awesome guy. Someone asked if I was Stephen Danes, a man who had bike-toured the world and been in a Myanmar newspaper.
