The dashes, from Cobán to Guatemala City and from El Paraíso to Somoto, were never saved. From Uvita the line is simple, on to Panama City.
It was ridden. In 2012 Logan Scholfield, Ray Marceau, and Daniel Cammardella set out on the first Balance Odyssey, from the Rio Grande south. The violet line is that road: nearly 5,900 kilometers traced to Uvita, then a simple line to Panama City, where the ride ends. The numbers follow it, including the loop north through the Yucatán and the line out to Ometepe.
From Nuevo Laredo it crosses the interior to Mexico City, then runs east through Palenque to Mérida and Cancún before turning south. Chetumal, Belize City, San Ignacio, El Remate in the Petén, Cobán. From Guatemala City the line goes on to Esquipulas, La Ceiba and Isla de Utila, Tegucigalpa, and down the Nicaraguan spine through Estelí, Masaya, and Granada, out to Ometepe, and on to Playa Maderas, where they surfed and practiced yoga at Maderas Village. Through Costa Rica — San José, the climb over Cerro de la Muerte, Uvita — and from there to Panama City.
The days themselves are the ride, in their notes. Kirk, Logan, Daniel, and Ray take turns. A numbered place with a story opens that part of it.
