Ngapali
Slackline workshop number two. Ngapali beach, on the central west coast. Setting up just before sunset only gave us time to introduce the line to three kids, and they took to it immediately. Two of them in particular took over, dueling and making fast progress.
One of them, Mein Au So, the boy in blue, was a crusher. On his way home from English class at the other end of the beach. Within half an hour he could hold several of the positions I showed him, including sitting, lying down, and a half lotus. That enthused frustration that comes when you're learning something you really want to figure out.
As the night divided the day we realized the spot was in his backyard. He said he would practice often and show it to his friends in town. We expect him to become the local ringleader. He kept slacklining through the darkness, and stopped only when he realized his mom was waiting at home with dinner.
